Total Cost= $7.95

Sales Tax= 6%

ATQ,

CP+TAX=7.95

LET CP BE x

So, x+6% of x= 7.95

x+ 6x÷100=7.95

x+3x÷50=7.95

53x÷50=7.95

x= 7.95*50÷53

. =$7.5

Therefore the real price of cooler was $7.5

Given,

Cost of the cooler with tax = $7.95

Rate of sales tax =  6%

To Find,

Cost of the cooler without tax =?

Solution,

Let the cost of the cooler without tax be x

Sales tax applied = 6% of the cost of the cooler without tax

Sales tax applied = 6% of x

Sales tax applied = 6x / 100

According to the question, we know that cost of cooler with sales tax is $7.95.

Cost of the cooler with tax = Cost of the cooler without tax + Sales tax applied

$7.95 = x + 6x / 100

(100x + 6x)/100 = 7.95

106x = 7.95 * 100

x = 795/106

x = $7.5

Hence, the cost cooler alone without the tax is $7.5
