Answer:

Antonio's character with reference to act 1 scene 1 is a melancholic character. William Shakespeare represented Antonio as a man with uneasiness in the play merchant of Venice. in act 1 scene 1 Antonio is in a sad mood. and he doesn't know the reason for his sadness. his friends give various reasons for his sadness but Antonio rejects all the reasons his friends give for his melancholy. in this scene, it clearly shows the finest character of antonio on basis of his true friendship. he truely believe Antonio. he consider Antonio as his entire world. this is how Antonio is in reference to act1 scene 1.
