Most species of ants and bees are highly social animals. Ants live together in large groups called colonies (Figure below). ... Their job is to build and repair the colony's nest. Worker ants also leave the nest to find food for themselves and other colony members.

Ants have a very keen sense of smell which helps them to find food.when searching for food Ants walk in a random manner.each ant leaves a trail of pheromone as it searches for food.when an ant finds its food it can retrace its own trail back to its nest.
