Anu is four year older than Sunil. Eight years ago, Anu was three times Sunil's age. Find the ages of sunil ans Anu.

Let Sunil age = x years

Any age = ( x + 4 ) years

Sunil age = ( x - 8 ) years

Anu age = ( x + 4 - 8 ) = ( x - 4 ) years

According to the problem given,

x - 4 = 3(x - 8 )

x - 4 = 3x - 24

-4 + 24 = 3x - x

20 = 2x

20 / 2 = x

10 = x

Therefore ,

Sunil age = x = 10 years

Anu age = ( x + 4 )

= 10 + 4

= 14 years

Let the age of Sunil be x
Anu's age = x + 4

8 years ago, Anu was 3 times Sunil's age.

⇒(x+4) - 8 = 3(x-8)
⇒ x - 4 = 3x - 24
⇒ x - 3x = -24 + 4
⇒ -2x = -20
⇒ x = -20/-2 = 10

Hence,
Age of Sunil = x = 10 years
Age of Anu = x + 4 = (10 + 4) years = 14 years
