Anu's school is 5 km away from her house. She covers 2/5 of the distance in a rickshaw, and 1/3 of the remaining distance by bicycle . Due to some fault in the ricksaw and bicycle, she had to cover the remaining distance on foot. How far did she walk

Step-by-step explanation:

2/5 of 5km = 2/5 × 5 = 2km

1/3 of 5km = 1/3×5 = 5/3 km

Distance she walked on foot = 5-(2+5/3) = 5-(6+5)/3 = 5-11/3 = (15-11)/3 = 4/3

Answer:

ANU'S SCHOOL IS 5 KM AWAY FROM HER HOUSE.

SHE COVERS 2/5 OF TOTAL DISTANCE IN A RICKSHAW= 2/5×5=2 KM

THEN SHE COVERS 1/3 REMAINING DISTANCE BY BICYCLE=1/3×2=2/3

THEN REMAINING DISTANCE COVERED WITH FOOT BY HER=5-(2+2/3)=5-(6+2/3)=5-8/3=15-8/3=7/3 KM.
