The average speed of Anuj is 4.375 m/s.

• Speed while going to the school = Distance / Time

Speed while going to the school = 4.5 / 15

= (4.5×1000) / (15×60)                 [∵ 1km = 1000m & 1 minute = 60 sec]

= 5 m/s

• Now, Speed while coming back from school = Distance / Time

Speed of Anuj while coming back from school = 4.5 / 20

= (4.5×1000) / (20×60)                   [∵ 1km = 1000m & 1 minute = 60 sec]

= 3.75 m/s

• Now , average speed of Anuj = (5 + 3.75) / 2 = 4.375 m/s
