Let the number be x

Then it's

$= > 27 \frac{1}{2} \% = \frac{27 \frac{1}{2} }{100} \times x \\ = > \frac{55}{200} x = \frac{11}{40} x$

Given, decrease number= 87

$= > x - \frac{11}{40} x = \frac{40x - 11x}{40} = \frac{29}{40} x = 87 \\ \\ = > x - \frac{87 \times 40}{29} = 3 \times 40 = 120$

Hence the required number is 120
