Anvi is ten years old and is studying in the fourth standard. After completing her third standard with flying colors, she had joined the summer camp 2018 .I had observed that she was diligent but was impatient. Sometimes she would make silly mistakes. Her parents came to meet me in October 2018 on account of her average performance in two unit tests. They rebuked her for not having an interest in her studies. They praised her elder sister for being very sincere and intelligent. Anvi was filled with low self-esteem and remorse. It was difficult for her to understand why her parents who were all praise for her till last summer was so upset with her.child sitting in front of laptop stressed due to lesser mark and low self confidence. She sat there quietly winding a thread around her finger just waiting for the session to be over.I could sense the tension in the dialogue between Anvi and her parents. I decided to talk to Anvi later. My interaction with Anvi revealed the reason for this situation. 4th standard Math becomes a little formal and disciplined. The casual approach taken by Anvi fetched her lesser marks in Math. This alarmed her parents and made them think that Anvi was lagging.Their changed behavior deteriorated Anvi’s self-esteem, and she felt let down. Question)what is your approach to solve avni's problem as a Guide?

Answer:

Explanation:

Let me first give out a brief summary of what is the situations:-

  • Anvi is a fresher as a child of standard 4
  • Anvi is diligent but lacks concentration by making silly mistakes
  • As standard 4 is a formal and a different approach especially in case of Maths, she wasn't able to take it up
  • As a result her marks deteriorated.
  • Her parents scolded her which started to depress her and feel her let down.

What we can do in this case?

  • A standard, being way different takes some time to adjust. She should consult with her elder sister how to cope up in this case
  • Also, she should never stop practicing. Practice makes a man perfect.
  • Next, she should apologise to her parents to take up the fresh standard lightly, they will surely encourage her to do good as parents are not our foes.
  • If she follows these little steps, at end of the standard, she will be able to achieve the required marks, and being a little attentive in class rather than losing self determination, will lead to success.
