SO, according to the question,
x=y+8 - (1)
And,
x+y=26 - (2)
Substituting (1)in (2)

y+8+y=26
2y=18
y=9 years
x= 9+8 =17 years

SO age of anvil is 17 years and age of Anita is 9 years

age of Anvil = x+8.

It is given that Sum of their ages is 26.
i.e.age of Anvil + age of Anita = 26.
therefore...
x + x + 8 = 26

x+8 = 9+8 = 17.

Hence, the age of Anvil is 17 years and that of Anita is 9 years.
