Consider the centre as O, then OB = 7(radius)

                                                     CB = 14(diameter)

let BD = CD = k ..........................{1}

now using pythagoras theorem ,

→ CB² = BD² + CD²

→  14² = k²+k²

→ 196 = 2K²

→ k² = 98

→ k = √98 ≈ 9.9

⇒ Area of cirlce  = πr² = 22/7 x 7²

                                       = 22 x 7 = 154cm²

⇒ Area shaded region = area of circle - area of square

                                       = 154 - k²

                                       = 154 - √98²

                                       = 154 - 98

                                       = 56cm²
