Wind is the flow of gases on a large scale. On the surface of the Earth, wind consists of the bulk movement of air. In outer space, solar wind is the movement of gases or charged particles from the Sun through space, while planetary wind is the outgassing of light chemical elements from a planet's atmosphere into space.

  1. Abrasion – Very small particles of rocks are hit against the rock surfaces which lead to the formation of some characteristic features of desert like Zeugens, Rock pedestals and Yardangs.
  2. Deflation – The depressions are formed when wind blows away the wastes of rocks to distant areas. The movement of particles causes the surface to get lowered and forms depressions.
  3. Attrition – When rock particles rub against each other and wear down and break down into much smaller particles, it is called attrition.
