What is Nutrition :-

The process of taking nutrients from food is called Nutrition. Such as - Carbohydrate, Fats, Proteins, Water, Vitamins, Minerals etc.

There are two types of modes of nutrition :-

1. Autotrophic Nutrition

2. Heterotopic Nutrition

Autotrophic Nutrition :

• Mode of Nutrition where organisms can prepare their own food themselves. Or Organisms capable of making their own food are called Autotrophs.
• It is a process in which organisms produce their food from simple inorganic material (water, carbon dioxide) in the presence of sunlight.
• Chlorophyll is required
• Process of digestion is absent.
• Examples = Plants etc.

Heterotrophic Nutrition :

• In these organisms depend upon other organism for food to survive.
• Inorganic substance are not much required.
• chlorophyll is absent.
• Process of digestion is required to convert complex molecules into simpler ones.
• Examples = Human beings, Amoeba etc.
