Neurons are the structural and functional unit of nervous tissue. The function of neurons is to conduct the the nerve impulse to brain. At the end of dendrites we have some receptors which detect the stimulus and initiate a chemical reaction that creates an electrical impulse. This impulse travel from dendrite to cell body and then along the axon to its end.
