Definition of Democratic system;

Democratic system- In a democratic system the rule is the hands of the people. It is characterized by the participation of decision making.

Features of Democratic system;

  • In a democratic country the decision to vote is given by the people. While the parties can compete against each other through elections.  
  • The competition of the election, can be contested among two parties at least.    
  • The process of election is contested in all fair means through Universal Adult Franchise.
  • The universal adult franchise gives the right to vote to all adult citizens  regardless of wealth, income, gender, creed, sex.
  • Although the government have made some ground rules between the parties while competing in elections.

Therefore, in a Democratic system it is necessary to have two parties for contesting the elections.
