The ocean currents are divided on basis of temperatures as Warm currents and cold currents.
•Warm currents flow from Equator towards poles.
•Cold currents move from poles towards equators.

Those currents that flow from theEquator towards the poles are warmerthan the surrounding water and so they are called warm currents. The ocean currents that flow from thepolar areas towards the Equator are cooler compared to the surroundingwater, so they are called cold currents
