Stars are made up of gases like hydrogen and helium which causes fire on them .
planet does not meet their own light because it doesn't have any harmful gases like Hydrogen Helium that will burn .

In the core of the stars due to their immense size and mass there is a process of nuclear fusion going on between the hydrogen atoms this releases tremendous amounts of energy outwards after going through the outer core and other layers for about a million years(in our sun) the energy escapes in the form of heat and light this is why they glow

planets don't have enough pressure to start a fusion reaction so they don't have enough energy

Anonymous: Gravity does play a part, but isn't the sole reason. For fusion, you gotta first remove the electrons from the atom and then make the temperature so hot that the nuclei posses high kinetic energy to overcome the repulsive coulomb force. The thing is, planet can't possibly reach that condition in proper solid/liquid/gas state
