Since the no. are consecutive so let us assume that one of them is 'x' , therefore the other no. will either be 'x+1' or 'x-1'. I am using x+1 , you can use whatever you want.

Now according to question the difference of their squares is 31 so,

(x+1)^{2}- x^{2} = 31

x^{2} + 1 + 2x - x^{2} = 31

2x + 1 = 31

2x = 31 - 1

2x = 30

x = 15

so the other no. is X+1 = 15 + 1 = 16

Answer so first Consecutive number = 15.

And another number is = x+1 = 15+1 = 16....
