Let the price of 1 kg vegetable be 100₹

New price=120₹

Now he only has ₹100

So he can buy on 5/6 kg

So % reduced=(1-5/6)*100

16.66%

Given :

The prices of vegetables increase by 20% .

To Find : The reduced consumption.

Solution :

Let the price of vegetables = 100
(Consider it = 1 units)

NEW PRICE = 100+20 = 120

In rupees 120 we can buy = 1 units of vegetables

In rupees 1 we can buy = 1/120 units of vegetables

In rupees 100 we can buy =
 \frac{1}{120}  \times 100 =  \frac{5}{6}
Now his consumption is 5/6 units .
