Let the Amount be ₹100
Then , 20% of 100 = ₹80
So , By what % Varun should reduce to his expenditure on Vegetables remind the same = ???

=> If he Reduce the 25% of the expenditure ....
=> Then , 25% of 80 = ₹100

Answer => 25%

Let Total Expenditure = Price * Quantity


Price increased by 20% and TE remains constant..


We have,TE = 1.2 P * (x) Q -


T  ,1.2 P * (x) Q = P * Q X = 1 / 1.2 => 0.83


Hence, if consumption is reduced to 83% of the initial consumption level, then total expenditure will remain same. Which means a reduction of approx 17% in consumption will work.
