Transitive verbs are not just verbs that can take an object; they demand objects. Without an object to affect, the sentence that a transitive verb inhabits will not seem complete
E.g. Please bring coffee.
An intransitive verb is the opposite of a transitive verb: it does not require an object to act upon.
E.g. They jumped.
Hope this helps you

first let us know wt is a verb ..
♦ a verb is a word that tells something about a person or thing..
example :- The boy kicks the football
➡ in this sentence , the verb ( kicks ) passes over the subject boy to some object football
therefore it is called as TRANSITIVE verb.
example :- the boy laughs loudly.
➡ here in this sentence the action denoted by the. verb laughs does not pass over to an object..
therefore it is INTRANSITIVE verb
==================
definition of transitive verb
♦ a transitive verb is a verb that denotes an action which passes over from the subject to
an object.
definition of intransitive verb :-
♦ an intransitive verb is a verb that denotes an action which does not pass over to object or which express a state or being .
===============
how to decide whether the verb is transitive or intransitive ..??
➡ if the verb expresses state that is like laughing , coughing etc.. then it is intransitive.
➡ if the verb is like dancing , singing , kicking which is done by volountary action then it is transitive..
➡ in intransitive sentences , the verb does not pass from subject to object.
====================
example :-
the girls where singing.
✴ the verb used in the sentence is transitive.
because the verb is passed from subject to object.
✴ singing - transitive verb.
