Any substance can be given an electric charge by rubbing it with a dissimilar object. However, it should be clear that a charged metal loses all its charge when touched by one's skin. This process is called 'earthing Non-metallic substances like perspex and P.V.C. cannot be discharged by earthing them. The reason for this is metals are conductors and non-metals are not conductors. What do we mean by this? 20

Answer:

When A and B are rubbed, A becones positively charged and B becones negatively charged. It means electrons are loosely bound with A in comparison to B. When A and C are rubbed together, A becones negatively charged and C positively charged. It means electrons are loosely bound with C in comparison to A. Hence, electrons are most loosely bound in C. So if B and C are rubbed together, C will lose electrons and B will receive electrons. Hence, C will become positively charged and B will become negatively charged.
