Technology that people use to assist their activities in daily life is called local technology. Traditional technologies are more sustainable, cheap and reliable as well. They are based on local resources and skill. So they are environment friendly. These local technologies do not need any energy.

“Technology” is problem-solving. If it comes from afar, we become its passive users. If at least some of it comes locally, from our friends and neighbors and the factory down the street, we have a stronger sense of agency, a belief that we, ourselves, can be problem-solvers, that we can understand and even create new technologies.
