if you are working in x y plan then with two displacement vector it can be represented but if you are working in xyz plan then we need three displacement vectors

Explanation:

Because in two dimension we can correctly represent the vector form its origin with the help of x and y displacement vectors but in case you are dealing with space you have to put a 3rd displacement vector to correctly represent the vector form the origin otherwise the angle of 3rd dimension will not be confirm.

on safe side if you are not sure about the plan in which you are working use 3 vector to re present the vector with 3rd vector as imagery vector
