The MRP of the article is 120 Rs.

Step-by-step explanation:

As given in the question

discount at article = 25%

Profit = 20%

The difference between discount and profit = 15 Rs.

We have to find the MRP of the article.

Let the MRP of the article is x.

According to the question

Discount = 25% of MRP

               = x\times\frac{25}{100}

               = \frac{x}{4}

We know that,

Selling Price = MRP - Discount

                     = x\ -\frac{x}{4}

                     = \frac{4x\ -\ x}{4}

                     = \frac{3x}{4}

Cost Price = Selling\ price\times(\frac{100}{100\ +\ gain\%})

                 = \frac{3x}{4}\times\frac{100}{120}

                 = \frac{5x}{8}

Profit = S.P - C.P

         = \frac{3x}{4}\ -\frac{5x}{8}

        = \frac{6x\ -\ 5x}{8}

        = \frac{x}{8}

Given discount - Earned profit = 15

\frac{x}{4}\ - \frac{x}{8} = 15

\frac{2x\ -\ x}{8} = 15

x = 15 x 8

x = 120 Rs.

Thus, the MRP of the article will be 120 Rs.
