Here is your answer--...
x+y-(x-y)
when we open the bracket and if we have minus sign outside the bracket then the signs inside the bracket change.
x+y-(x-y)
x+y-x+y
As u know that positive and negative terms cancel out each other then +x and -x will cancel out each other.
Now,
x+y-x+y
x and x being negative sign and positive sign cancel
y+y=2y
Put value of y =3
2×3=6
