When you balance a equation you should keep in mind that the no of atoms of various element should be equal in each sides.To do that you can add a compound or an element in either of the side.You can multiply a compound with any constant to equalize it.Only you have to see that RHS=LHS

Hii There!!!

To balance a chemical equation, it is easier to balance firstly Hydrogen and then oxygen.
Thereafter, you have to balance other elements.

Note that, the number of atoms of each elements should be same or equal in both sides .
That is LHS & RHS.

For example :-

H2 + O2 -----> H2O

Here number of hydrogen atoms on the both sides is same that is 2. But the number of oxygen atoms are not equal.
So, we multiply 2 in RHS then it becomes,
H2 +O2 -----> 2H2O

but , here number of Hydrogen atoms is disturbed that is 2 in LHS and 4 in RHS.

So, we multiply H2 by 2 in LHS.
Then, equation becomes :-

2H2 (g) + O2 (g) ----> 2H2O (l)

Now the chemical equation is balanced with physical state.

NOTE:- It is not necessary to write an equation in physical state.
