A linear pair of angles is formed when two lines intersect. Two angles are said to be linear if they are adjacent angles formed by two intersecting lines. The measure of a straight angle is 180 degrees, so a linear pair of angles must add up to 180 degrees.

Adjacent Angles
these are two angles that share a common vertex, a common side, and no common interior points. (They share a vertex and side, but do not overlap.)
∠1 and ∠2 are adjacent angles.
∠ABC and ∠1 are NOT adjacent angles.
(∠ABC overlaps ∠1.)
A Linear Pair
is two adjacent angles whose non-common sides form opposite rays.
∠1 and ∠2 form a linear pair.
The line through points A, B and C is a straight line.
∠1 and ∠2 are supplementary.
hope you got it :)
