Fractional distillation can be understood with the example of oil extracted from sea bed.... we know that the boiling point of petrol is less than that of petroleum jelly.... So we boil the oil to the temperature at which petroleum boils and is then collected by simple distillation and afterwards it is boiled to the temperature at which petroleum jelly boils and then it is collected by normal distillation
