ap is 3y-1,3y+1,5y+1, .........find y??

common difference of an A.P. remains constant

d=3y+1-(3y-1)

d=2

Now also d=2=5y+1-(3y+1)

2=2y

y=1.....Ans.

3y+1 - (3y-1)=5y+1 -(3y+1)

3y+1-3y+1=5y+1-3y-1

2=2y

y=1
