Age of daughter = a - 8

5a - 16/2 = 4a - 32

5a - 16 = 2(4a - 32)

5a - 16 = 8a - 64

5a - 8a = 16 - 64

-3a = -48

a = -48/-3

a = 48/3

a = 16 years
