A correct option is an option (b), "competitive quality".

  • Self-sufficiency means to be self-sufficient in terms of resources so that one country need not be dependent on another country. In the case of India, It was dependent on other countries for food and other resources so the overcome this drawback was included in the first five-year goal.
  • Competitive quality refers to the competition that exists in the market in terms of quality. During the British era, it was difficult for Indian industries to compete with British good because their price was low. After independence as India was newly independent it face difficulty in terms of competition with other countries' commodities as they were well established. And now comparatively It has made huge progress but because of many factors such as finance, unstable market condition, and so on it is difficult for Indian industries to compete with commodities of other countries as they have much more advanced technology to build it and have good availability of finance.
