Apart from tetrahedral geometry for Methane(CH4) ,another possible geometry is square planar with four 'H' atoms at the corners of the square and the'C' atom as its centre. explain why CH4 is not a square planar??

Explanation:

for square planar , dsp² Hybridisation is required which is not possible in Carbon due to absence of d - orbitals.
