Answer:

Apartheid is the former official government policy in South Africa of separating people of different races and making them live apart.

Democracy is a system of government where the citizens exercise power by voting. In a direct democracy, the citizens as a whole form a governing body and vote directly on each issue.

Apartheid. Apartheid was a political and social system in South Africa during the era of White minority rule. It enforced racial discrimination against non-Whites, mainly focused on skin colour and facial features. The word apartheid means "separateness" in the Afrikaans language.

The word democracy describes a political system. In a democratic country, all eligible citizens have the right to participate, either directly or indirectly, in making the decisions that affect them. Countries like Canada, the United States of America and the United Kingdom all have representative democracies.
