appearances are deceptive it is very much true in the case of two boys as the narrator bought fruits from them in spite of their appearances. during the following days the narrator came to know that the boys did a lot of things these all make the narrator to think that the boys were saving money to emigrate to America but during the course of the story he came to know that the boys only motive was to be able to pay for the Welfare of their sister Lucia the war had taken almost all family of them now the boys were working so hard to save whatever was left Behind. inside the shavy appearance were two hidden navel soles.

at first when you see the boys they look very odd . shabbiily dressed so the author and his compion neglects to talk ... but when they saw how much hard work they do for their sister .. combining day and night for her.. they realised they they are the true gentlemen ........hope it helped
