Appearances are often deceptive. This statement holds true in case of Custard the dragon as it although looked timid but and coward but turned out to be the bravest and strongest of all. As everyone thought that custard was coward but he was the one who fought bravely in the toughest situation. Thus a true evaluation of a person can be made only in times of adversity and hardships. So someone's appearance doesn't make them powerful or coward it is how one reacts when impediments block the way
