In the Old Testament we see Jacob being so desirous of the covenant blessing that he was willing to deceive his father Isaac in order to obtain it. Christians want God to bless their ministry, their crops, their plans, their church, their sermons, their missionaries, their tithes and offerings, etc. Why do we desire them? So we ask God to bless our efforts in the work that we do for Him, as well as for the things that please us.
