it acts just like a fuse
but the advantage is that a fuse a has to be replaced since the wire melts but a MCB dosent contains any wire like that basically it is just like the main switch for an appliance

MCB- Miniature Circuit Breaker.
The main advantage of MCB is to trip the circuit in abnormal conditions. Even Fuse can handle this abnormal conditions(Fault, short circuit, etc).
Now question comes here then, why only MCB is preferred?
MCB is safer to handle , where as Fuse need to remove from live circuit, and a copper or aluminium strands should be connected at both ends of strips.
Same MCB can trip circuit multiple times, where as Fuse need to change every time when it trips.
MCB body is made of GRP(Glass Reinforced plastic) does not break with the age, where as Fuse will break with age.
Flexible in operation is possible, whenever circuit is tripped just we need to change position of MCB as like as our switch.
Thanks for asking
