APPLICATION OF SIMILARITY OF TRIANGLE

A research team wishes to determine the altitude of a mountain as follows (see figure below). They use a light source at L, as mounted on a structure of height 2 metres to shine a beam of light through a top of pole P' through the top of mountain M'. The height of the pole is 20 metres. The distance between the altitude of the mountain and the pole is 1000 metres. The distance between pole and laser is 10 metres.

QUESTION:-

2. AB and PQ are two chords of a circle. What can we say about ∆AMP and ∆QMB.
(a) they are similar. (b) they are not similar
(c)we cannot predict from given data
(d)none of these options are true

3. If ∆AMP~∆QMB, then by which similarity criteria.
(a) AAA (b) SSS
(c)SAS. (d)RHS

4. If AM=3m, QM=9m, PM=4m, then BM=?
(a)6cm. (b)8cm
(c)9cm. (d)12cm
