NEW DELHI: Two online classes and assignments mark Class VI student Anandee Chattopadhyay’s routine for the day. Apart from this, she has also been given projects, but she has decided to handle them on another day. The project requires her to record the work on video and email the clip to the school.
“The other work I can do on my own, but this video recording will have to wait. I need the help of my parents,” explained Chattopadhyay. The online tasks and projects being assigned by private schools have put parents in a quandary because they suddenly need to connect their children through internet with their schools and often they don’t know how to procure the materials needed for projects during the lockdown.
A parent confided, “For an online geography class, students were asked to get a globe. Another school wanted students to work on an assignment on maps. But since globes and maps are not essential items, we cannot get them at this time.”
Another parent, Shiney Singh in south Delhi, said a particular assignment required printouts. “I do not have a printer at home and all the shops are closed. So, my son, wife and I had to write everything out on paper, click photographs and sent them to the school,” disclosed Singh.
