Say, for example, you wanted to know how much a precious mineral was worth. Part of that would require knowing the volume! Application of Surface Area

• We often use the area of the room's floor to determine the size of the carpet to be bought.

• Covering the floor with tiles or the walls with paint or wallpaper

• While buying a flat, the first question that we ask is what is the area of the flat? Area gives us an idea of how much space is present inside a particular shape.

Application of volume

• Volume gives an idea of the quantity. For example, how much water is present in a bottle, how much gas is required to fill a balloon, or how much petrol a car needs to travel a particular distance.
