The MOTOR or EFFERENT fibers of cranial nerves arise from groups of neurons in the brain, which are their nuclei of origin. The SENSORY or AFFERENT fibers of the nerves arise neurons situated outside the brain, grouped to form ganglia or sited in peripheral sensory organs.
