Apply the formula of constant proportion and find the mass of oxygen that will be needed for complete combustion of 5 grams of carbon.

Carbon will burn with oxygen to form CO2

Now in this ,

C=12 and  O=16*2 = 32

It means that 12g of carbon will need 32g of oxygen to form CO2

so 1g of carbon will need=  32/12 =2.6  of oxygen

5g of carbon will need=

5*2.6 = 13 g of oxygen
