The primary function of the plasma membrane is to protect the cell from its surroundings. Composed of a phospholipid bilayer with embedded proteins, the plasma membrane is selectively permeable to ions and organic molecules and regulates the movement of substances in and out of cells.

plasmamembrane acts as a protective sheild to the cell it is also known as selectivity permeable membrane it allows only selected material inside the cells n give a definite shape to the cell .it also protects the cell frm damage n the other organisms. it protects the cell n doesn't allow the inner cell organelles to move frm thr place they protect the cell like a wall n doesn't allow the cytoplasm to move out of the cell in which all the cell organelles floats so we appreciate the role of plasma membrane

hope it helps u n plz mark me as brainliest
