Explanation:

The poem ‘Basketful of Moonlight’ by Sunil Sharma is a very simple poem which brings forth a child’s prayers to the moon to shine brightly and light the village path.

The child loves his father and wants to spend as much time with him as possible and so asks that there be small moons everywhere to light the path that the village men take while returning home after a hard day’s work. It would make it easier and save them from snakes and scorpions.

They could come home much earlier and tell them stories. He would get much time with his father like children in the cities.

So, it is a very lucid poem which portrays the love and care, a child has for his father.
