In the poem named 'Cherry Tree', Ruskin Bond tells the readers about the phases of cherry trees. These phases are : seeds, twigs, plant, flowering and finally the fruits.
A family like relationship is exhibited between Ruskin and the tree. He cares for the tree very much like a guardian. He used to take care of the tree in every bad or good conditions.
Appreciation of the poem 'Cherry Tree':
The Cherry tree by Ruskin Bond brings out the beauty of nature and how it is able to survive under all circumstances. The poet planted a small seed of a cherry tree and did not pay attention to it beyond watering the plant and letting it be. Despite any special care, the cherry tree grew. It faced obstacles in the form of a goat who ate its leaves, the strong wind that blew away all its tiny leaves, the blade of the grass cutter who cut it into two.
Despite all this, when the poet returned from Kashmir after a few months he was happy and thrilled to see that his little cherry plant had grown into a six feet tree and had also started flowering and bearing fruit. He was ecstatic and lay on the grass admiring the cherry tree and was happy that he had a small part to play in the growth of a living being.
