Approximately how many elements are there that combine chemically in a great number of ways to produce compounds?

All the Elements of the Periodic Table except some in Lanthanoid and Actinoid Series and Most precisely noble gases. Except them all other combines naturally or artificially to form millions or even infinite number of the compounds.

If you are asking the Exact number, then I will tell you that there are approximately 95 compounds in our nature and produced artificially which combines to forms the number  of compounds.

There are some noble gases also which combines like Helium, and some elements in Lanthanoid and Actinoid Series.

Exact number of Elements in not sure. It depends upon the conditions imparted to them and there nature. There are many elements which are preparing by man in today's day. They may also combines. So nothing is sure in this.
