Transport in Plants. Because of its high solubility, about 7% of carbon dioxide gets dissolved in the blood plasma and is carried to the wings in the same way. The largest fraction of carbon dioxide, i.e., (about 70% ) is converted to bicarbonates (HCO3-) and transported in the plasma.

Hemoglobin is contained in red blood cells, which efficiently carries oxygen from the lungs to the tissues of the body. Hemoglobin also helps in the transportation of carbon dioxide and hydrogen ions back to the lungs.
