Let, the C.P. be 'x'

29% of x = 2x/100

By condition,

x+(29x/100)=299

or, 100+29x=299*100

or, x = 29900/129

or, x = 231.78

Let, the M.P. be, 'y'

9% of y = 9y/100

by condition,

y-9y/100=299

or, 100y-9y=299*100

or, 91y=29900

or, y =29900/91

or, y=302.02

So, the profit would be rs(302.02-231.78)

                                        = rs.70.24

So, the profit % =(70.24*100)/231.78

                         = 30.3%

Step-by-step explanation:

Let us suppose,

C.P of an article is RS.100

And Profit%=35%

Then,S.P of the article=Rs.135

Now,M.P of an article be Rs x

Here, Discount%=5%

Therefore, S.P=MP-D%of M.P

        or,Rs 135=Rs x-10/100*Rs x

        or,Rs 135=Rs 9x/10

        or,9x=1350

        or,x=1350/9=150

Therefore,x=Rs 150

(NOTE) If an article isnt sold at by giving any discount. Then,

at that condition Seller used to sold it on M.P

So, S.P=Rs 150

      C.P=Rs 100

Then, profit%=(SP-C.P)/C>P*100%

                     =50/100*100%

                     =50%
