Given - Weight  of hydrochloric acid : 0.36 gram

Weight of sodium hydroxide : 0.8 gram

Find - Theoretical yield of water

Solution - The mentioned reaction will be represented as - HCl + NaOH --> NaCl + H2O.

Here, HCl is hydrochloric acid, NaOH is sodium hydroxide, H2O is water and NaCl is sodium chloride.

As per the mentioned data, hydrochloric acid is present in less amount and hence it will be the limiting reagent.. Yield of water will depend on amount of hydrochloric acid.

Moles of hydrochloric acid present : 0.36/36.5 = 0.01.

1 mole of hydrochloric acid yields 1 mole of water, hence, 0.01 mole of water will be the production amount of water.

Amount of water produced : 0.01*18

Amount of water produced : 0.18 gram.

Theoretical yield of water will be 0.18 gram.
