Hi,

First of all you should know why we use litmus paper…

Litmus paper is an indicator to find the solution is acidic or basic or even is it neutral…

To determine it we use two coloured litmus paper.. The blue and the red.

Blue litmus turns red when your solution is acidic…indicating as acid.

Red litmus turns blue when your solution is basic…. Indicating as base.

If litmus paper do not show any change of colour it shows neutral solution.

Ferric chloride is fairly strong acidic, you will only know when you put it on both litmus paper.

You can see that blue litmus changes to red and red Litmus remains same…this indicates that ferric chloride is acidic solution.
